Comparative Medicine Teaching Opportunity
The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) summer programs provides intensive coursework in the liberal arts to talented pre-collegiate students in grades 2-12. This summer we are offering new courses related to the rich history and culture of China. These courses will offer the students a unique perspective by studying in Nanjing, China. China offers a wealth of challenges and opportunities for CTY students to explore as we move into the global community of the 21st century. CTY Nanjing brings together students from all over the United States and the world to immerse themselves in China’s past and engage the major questions facing China today.

Who: Johns Hopkins University – Center for Talented Youth (CTY)
What: We are seeking enthusiastic psychology instructors to work in our summer programs. CTY offers intense 3-week academic programs for academically talented elementary, middle, and high school students from across the country and around the world.
Where: Nanjing, China
When:July 1 - July 20, 2007
Description of Course: Medicine: East & West: In this course students explore the interplay between Chinese and western medicine. Topics include the use of acupuncture and its role in pain management; the role of spirituality in the healing arts; and the divergent systems’ basic approaches to disease and patient care. Throughout, students look at the history, philosophy, and science that determine the similarities and differences of the two approaches. In addition, students examine ongoing shifts in western medicine as physicians look to learn from the Chinese healing arts.
Salary: Instructors start at $1970 - $2970 per 3-week session.
Room, board and partial travel expenses are provided.
Classes:15 students, grades 9th – 12th
Each instructor is assigned a teaching assistant.
