Madaei Hayahadut/Jewish Studies, the Journal of the World Union of Jewish Studies, has appeared since 1990, replacing the World Union's newsletter, first published in 1971. Since 2006, the editorial board of the journal consists of four members of the executive of the World Union: Professors Gershon Bacon, Ithamar Gruenwald, Devorah Dimant and Marc Hirshman. The director of the World Union, Dr. Ronela Merdler, serves as the editorial coordinator and is responsible for production of the journal.
The journal focuses on programmatic and methodological issues. In addition, it includes a section devoted to translations of classic articles in Jewish Studies, accompanied by new introductions. Each issue will also include a survey of new books and journals in the field.
Researchers in the various fields of Jewish Studies are invited to submit articles. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the guidelines published on the website of the World Union (www.jewish-studies.org) and in volume 43 of the Journal. The journal publishes articles in English or Hebrew.
Publishers and authors are invited to send their books to the editors for inclusion in the survey/review section. The editorial board is not, however, obliged to survey every book submitted.
