A sumptuously illustrated slide lecture encompassing 7,000 years of Persian culture. Masterpieces of Persian art will be discussed within their historical context and integrated with the natural landscape and peoples of this timeless land. Highlights include precious objects from archaeological finds and royal treasuries, delicate illustrated manuscripts, finely woven carpets, dazzling architectural decoration and works of 20th century Iranian masters. In conjunction with the exhibition Glass, Gilding and Grand Design: Art of Sasanian Iran (224-642) at Asia Society and Museum, February 14 through May 20, 2007.
