CALL FOR PAPERS
4th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF NGOs
October 19-21, 2007 Canakkale – TURKEY
Organized by Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences
Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University
Çanakkale is located on the banks of Dardanelles in the north-west of
Turkey where Europe and Asia meet. It is one of the rare cities of the
world that has hosted legends and mythology in its thousands years of
historical richness and culture. It is also a significant tourism center
of Turkey with its clean beaches and historical sites (e.g. Troia, Assos,
Lampsakos, and Mount Ida, where Zeus oversaw the Troia War).
The significance of the city for Turkey also comes from the famous
Canakkale Battles during First World War during which Mustafa Kemal
Ataturk scored great victories against the Entente Forces. These victories
are considered the preface of the founding of Modern Turkey in Turkish
historiography and Turkish national memory.
Çanakkale is also a city of where there is a high level of civil society
consciousness. In this regard, our school, Biga Faculty of Economics and
Administrative Sciences, carries out a special mission for furthering this
consciousness through organizing international conferences on NGOs. This
year, the Fourth NGOs Conference will be held in our town. This year’s
main theme is “Global Poverty”. Contributions of academics,
representatives and managers of NGOs as well as government and private
sector are expected to our conference.
Abstracts of papers should be sent no later than May 15th, 2007. Accepted
papers will be announced on May 31st, 2007. For further information,
