Southern University at New Orleans is initiating a new online scholarly publication, the New Orleans Historical and Cultural Review, which will focus on the history and culture of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, and the surrounding region. The focus will be on the unique aspects of the area's history and culture, particularly, in the first issue, as they are reflected in the region's response to the challenges presented by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The publication is intended to become a fusion of scholarly research with a select presentation of original creative works of literature, music and art reflective of New Orleans area regional influences on the originators. Submissions for the first issue should be made by May 1, 2007; submissions received later will be considered for inclusion in the following issue. The publication date will be in June 2007, on the University website at http://www.suno.edu
