All archives, museums, libraries and art galleries are invited to be included in WAAND, the Women Artists Archives National Directory. WAAND is an innovative Web directory developed by Rutgers University Libraries that directs users to the location of the papers of contemporary women visual artists and to the records of organizations of women artists. WAAND is now online at http://waand.rutgers.edu/. Please make plans to list your archival collections about women artists in our directory in order to make your holdings known to researchers, scholars, artists and students throughout the world.
There are no fees or charges of any kind for participants or users of WAAND. Funded initially by the Getty Foundation, WAAND is funded by Rutgers University Libraries and the Institute for Women & Art at Rutgers. WAAND New Jersey outreach is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
WAAND founding participants include the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution; Fales Library and Special Collections, New York University; Hatch-Billops Collection, Archives of African American Cultural History; Minnesota Historical Society; Museum of Modern Art Archives; and New Jersey Historical Society. Principal Investigators are Judith K. Brodsky and Ferris Olin, co-directors of the Institute for Women & Art at Rutgers.
You can learn more about WAAND at http://waand.rutgers.edu or by sending your questions by email to waand@rci.rutgers.edu. If you prefer to speak directly with a WAAND staff member, please call Nicole Plett, WAAND Project Manager, at 732-932-9407 x27.
