This is a call for academics from any relevant field interested in participating in a panel at this year's Conference on South Asia at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The purpose of the panel is to explore various aspects of the practice, prevalence, and mystique of magic in South Asian traditions and history, and in contemporary South Asian societies.
For the purposes of this proposed panel, "magic" includes any aspect of the supernatural in religious, occult, or theatrical practice or belief.
Please note that the deadline for panel proposals is April 1, so I will need to hear from you immediately if you are interested.
