The Sasanian dynasty had a rich cultural legacy which built upon earlier traditions of earlier epochs and also laid a foundation for many aspect of the region's culture under Islam. The survival of Sasanian culture was enhanced by the broad geographic region that it touched from Byzantium in the west to Central Asia and China in the east.
