The Center for Cold War Studies at UC Santa Barbara hosts the final in an annual three-part conference series, “Asia and the Cold War” bringing together specialists from Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States to develop a new interpretative synthesis for the history of the Cold War in Asia. Specifically, we will ask the following questions: In what ways were the developments of the Cold War in Asia distinct from the global Cold War, and how was the Cold War in Asia related to the global Cold War? Did the Cold War in Asia contribute to the intensification of Cold War conflict in the third period (1973-1985)? Did the Cold War in Asia in fact ever end?
This conference is by invitation only.
