Postgraduate Contributors Sought -
Volume on Cartoons and Historical Scholarship
---------------------------------------------------------
A small number of contributions by postgraduates/early career researchers are sought for a collection of essays (in English) detailing new research on particular themes in political cartoon evidence across a variety of periods/locations. As well as providing a forum for new research, the book is also designed to provide the domestic and international market with an easy, single-volume reference to the methodologies by which cartoon evidence can be used in historical scholarship. If the proposal is successful, the collection would be published in both electronic and print form by Monash University's ePress(http://publications.epress.monash.edu/).
Those interested are requested to forward an abstract (2-300 words, at the prescribed email address), and the editors will be happy to answer any questions they may have as to the nature/scope of the proposed volume. Proposed chapters/essays should be around 6000 words in length. Potential contributors should bear in mind that though there is every likelihood of success, the work is still at the proposal stage, and there is as yet no timetable for submission/editing/publication.
The contributions would be double-blind refereed, and the editors reserve the right to select those contributions most appropriate for the format/scope of the volume. Potential contributors should also limit in number the cartoons they wish to cite/wish to appear in their work, owing to the cost of reproduction/purchasing of copyright.
The importance of postgraduate and early-career publication is only increasing with time, and the editors see this volume as an excellent opportunity for scholars in the early stages of research to gain exposure and experience.
