To celebrate the establishment of Ideograms, our new journal of interdisciplinary studies from the University of Leicester in collaboration with colleagues from De Montfort University, the parent research group (IDeoGRAMS – the Interdepartmental Group for Research into the Arts, Media and Society) launches a new conference to take place annually on interdisciplinary subjects and research. For 2007, the focus will be upon contemporary media although papers are all interdisciplinary subjects are welcomed. Papers might be upon, for example:
• Internet technologies and consumption
• Intersections of arts, media, society and technology
• Change cultures within medias
• Concepts of the contemporary
• Specific contemporary media (music, art, film, television etc…)
• Media consumption
• The relationship between present and past interactions with media and artforms
• Science and the Media
• Business, Capitalism and the Media
