The Haitian Studies Association (HSA) is pleased to invite you to its 19th Annual Conference to be held at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL on October 4th-6th, 2007. The theme of the conference is “Weaving Transnational Ties: Partnering for Haiti.” We invite you to consider participating at the conference by chairing a panel, presenting a paper, or attending. The 19th Annual Conference committee welcomes proposals from authors, scholars, teachers, librarians, archivists, activists, scientists, artists and the general public.
The conference seeks to explore the ways in which Haitians at home and abroad create spaces for transnational connections, collaborations, and forms of exchange that enhance and challenge the social, political, cultural, and economic development of Haiti and Haitian diaspora communities. We invite theoretical as well as empirical explorations, single discipline as well as cross- and inter-disciplinary papers on the subject.
Please visit our website for further information regarding the conference and membership to the organization. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in October at the conference.
