The conference theme explores the concept of "home" in the context of the city. This is interpreted in two broad ways - the city as a home, and the city as a collection of homes; the one focusing on how different groups and individuals, including newcomers and migrants, construct a sense of home and belonging in the city, and the other on the social relationships and material structures that constitute the concept of home.
