It is our pleasure to invite proposals for GSCOPE 2007, the annual conference of Graduate Students in the Philosophy of Education. The conference will be held at Simon Fraser University in Greater Vancouver, BC, October 12-14, 2007.
We invite you to philosophize on the interconnected themes of place, time, knowledge, self, and culture. Indeed, these themes should cast a philosophical net wide enough to include any topics that you have been working on!
In the past, GSCOPE sessions have focused on the presentation of single- and multi-authored papers, but if you would like to propose an alternative format, such proposals will be gladly considered. We welcome contributions from a variety of philosophical approaches. We also recognize the increasing interdisciplinarity of academic work. Philosophical methods and sources are used in, and in conjunction with, cultural studies, women’s studies, political theory, postcolonial critique, and more. We look forward to interdisciplinary submissions that include philosophical methods or sources and that address educational questions and issues.
Proposals may be submitted as Word document attachments sent to: submission.gscope@gmail.com. Please clearly mark your submission “GSCOPE 2007.” Deadline for submissions is May 1, 2007. Submissions should include the manuscript (not to exceed 4000 words) with the title of the paper appearing on the first page (without author's name), and a separate cover sheet with author's name, phone number and email, institutional affiliation, title of manuscript, a 120-150 word abstract, and 3-5 keywords.
