This conference, the sixth in our series which focuses upon tourism and festivals, will bring together international researchers working on the ways by which diaspora community cultures as expressed, translated and consumed through festivals, cultural events and tourism. Issues addressed include: Defining and conceptualising diasporas in connection with festivals and cultural events; Mobilities and the transformation of festivity to new community circumstances/settings; The distribution and circulation of globalised diaspora festival forms – e.g. carnival and mela. The conference encourages theoretical and conceptual contributions from the social sciences and the humanities and also from policy makers.
