We are looking for additional participant(s) and a discussant for a proposed panel on issues in the politics of reproduction in Britain and the Empire in the first half of the twentieth century, for the North American British Studies Conference in San Francisco November 9-11 2007 (more information here http://www.nacbs.org/). We would not rule out papers dealing with an earlier or later period if these meshed well with the existing papers, which are on the campaign for abortion in Britain and feminism in the 1930s, and a postcolonial perspective on British women working cross-culturally to agitate for medicalized birth control in colonized Asia during the same period.
