I am interested in putting together a panel (or joining an existing panel) for the 2008 Berkshire Conference on the History of Women around the theme of “The Gender Politics of Cosmopolitanism.” My work examines how French women in the 19th century used cosmopolitanism to claim political agency. I would be especially interested in papers that explore cosmopolitanism as a political strategy, but any work on intersections of cosmopolitanism and gender would be welcome.
Right now I am envisioning this as a panel but am open to other formats.
If you would be interested in joining this panel (or serving as a chair or commentator), please email me at rnunez@stanford.edu ASAP. The deadline for submissions is February 9.
