Announcing the 5th Annual Joint Atlantic Seminar for the History of Medicine, to be held the weekend of October 5-6, 2007, and hosted by the Institute of the History of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. The seminar is organized by graduate students across North America working in fields related to the history of medicine. Graduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts for research presentations on topics related to the history of health and healing; of medical ideas, practices, and institutions; and of illness, disease, and public health, from all eras and regions of the world. Abstracts should be no more than 350 words and should clearly state the purpose, thesis, methodology, and principal findings of the paper. Successful proposals will engage relevant historiographical issues and potential contributions to scholarship on the history of medicine and health.
All abstracts should be submitted electronically to Abby Markoe, graduate student coordinator, at JAS_med2007@jhmi.edu. The deadline for submissions is May 25, 2007. For more information visit www.jointatlantic.org.
