Colleagues,
We would like to organize a panel for the 2008 AHA conference centered around the connections between feminism and wars. In some instances, wars have served to further the cause of feminism. In other instances, however, wars and militarism have worked against feminist causes and strengthened traditional definitions of gender. This panel would examine the complicated interplay between wars and feminism, militarism and gender. Our work centers on World War II and the Vietnam era, but we am open to works that consider all eras and geographical regions.
Please email with questions or proposals to either of us.
