AHA Panel Proposal: colonial discourses & self representation
|
|
I am currently putting together a panel for the 2008 meeting of the American Historical Association (Jan 3-6, Washington D.C.)considering the ways in which anthropologists represented race with special emphasis on the cultural ends or personal meanings driving their analysis. The period is fairly open (18th thru early 20th) and papers are not regionally restricted. The focus lies with the auto-biographical dimension in the colonial discourse of the other - however submerged or manifest you may find it. IE - anthropology to which you bring some backstory and sense of personal/ideological agenda.
