Partaking of and contributing to a recent surge of interest in Britain's secret state, SPOOKED will bring together political, historical and cultural approaches to the study of intelligence, which hitherto have been somewhat compartmentalised. Speakers include: Professor Richard Aldrich (Nottingham), Professor Christopher Andrew (Cambridge), Professor Anthony Glees (Brunel), Mr. Stephen Dorril (Huddersfield), Professor Philip Murphy (Reading), and Dr. Philip Davies (Brunel). Collectively they will attend to the representations of intelligence found in literary and filmic portrayals as well as offer fresh empirical insights on the work of the secret and security services in practice.
