The McConnell Center at the University of Louisville announces a one day conference examining the life and legacy of Henry Clay, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Robert Remini, U.S. House of Representatives’ Historian. A reception following the conference with U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell will dedicate the McConnell Center’s Clay statue and Senate desk replica. Other speakers include Dr. Peter Knupfer (MSU), Dr. Stephen Aron (UCLA), Dr. Lindsey Apple (Georgetown College), Dr. John Kleber (University of Louisville), and Melba Hay, editor of The Papers of Henry Clay. The conference will be held at the University of Louisville’s Belknap campus in Louisville, Kentucky from 9:00 am- 6:30 pm on February 17, 2007. Registration fee of $35 includes lunch, breaks, and reception. Reduced rate of $10 for K-12 teachers also includes classroom materials and books. Student rate is $5.
