Snowshoes!: The Connecticut State Museum of Natural History
and Connecticut Archaeology Center at UConn(Map will be mailed to participants). 10 am to 12 noon. Advance registration required: $30 per member, $40 per nonmember (includes materials fee). Snowshoes have been used by northern peoples around the world since Neolithic times. It is believed that they crossed the Bering land bridge into North America on the feet of the first Siberian migrants 12,000 years ago. This workshop will offer instruction in hand lacing a pair of decorative, mini-snowshoes in the modern Huron style. These traditional snowshoe miniatures (16” x 5”) are the same patterns and materials as the full-size ones in use today. They make a handsome decoration and a unique gift! Adults and children ages 10 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For additional information or to register please call (860) 486-4460 or visit:
