Call for Papers for a Conference to be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, October, 17-20 2007
on the theme
MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION
Proposals are invited for papers and panels; possible topics include – but are not limited to – history of the book, print culture, travel journals, mapping and surveying, eighteenth-century media, the visual and the performing arts, adaptations, journalism and pamphleteering, reviews and periodicals, academies, encyclopedias and dictionaries, oral culture and folklore, oratory, the eighteenth century in twenty-first century technology, cartoons and satire, tracts and the working-class press, reception history, manuscripts, salons, epistolarity, intellectual circles. (As is traditional in CSECS, proposals not on the conference theme will also be considered.)
