Essays are sought for a special issue of Rethinking History: The Journal of Theory and Practice entitled "Academic Autobiography and/in the Discourses of History." This special issue will engage the current paradigms of the debate on autobiographical writing by academics (historians, literary critics, anthropologists, and sociologists, among others) and analyze these in the interdisciplinary context of the developing historical consciousness of our age.
Specific topics may include, but are not limited to: the academic as author/historian; academic life writing as history; academic autobiography and intellectual history; life writing and the definitions of academic disciplines; the intersection between private and public life in academic autobiographies; academic autobiography as a literary or historical genre.
500-word abstracts must be submitted to the editors of the special issue, Jaume Aurell and Rocío G. Davis, at (acadautobiography@yahoo.com) before April 30, 2007. Final papers will be due on November 15, 2007.
