On the successful completion of the INQUA Commission of the International symposium on Paleopedolgoy at Suzdal (2000) and Firenze (2004), an International Paleopedology conference and fieldworkshop is being organised at Anna University, Chennai, India between 10-14 January 2008. The title of the conferenceis Paleopedology: Palaeosols, geomorphic evolution of landscape and paleoclimate change.
This conference is aimed at discussing current research on paleosol formation under the following themes:
a. Time and cuases for ebdrock weathering into soils.
b. Methods for udnerstanding soil formation, soil physics and radiometric datingof soils.
c. Carbon budget and geochemistry of soils.
d. Soil micromorphology, paleopedology,soils and geoarchaeology and climate change.
The field workshop is being organised to study the coastal soils and laterites of different geological ages.
