I plan to propose a panel for the 2007 ASLH Conference called "Literature as Legal History" which will discuss ways literautre can add to our understandin of the history of law. Richard Bernstein has agreed to be the commentator, and I will present a paper on Macbeth and witchcraft, showing how Jacobean skepticism about claims of demonic posession was anti-feminist, rather than progressive, as has previously been thought. I'd welcome papers on other works of literature, with a preference for Early Modern, but will consider all periods. If you're interested, send me an abstract by 1/26.
