The Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora invites scholars from all over the world to submit proposals for papers that could be presented during the three-day international conference, exploring various aspects of American policy: U.S. Foreign Policy – Theory, Mechanisms and Practice. The papers should fit into following thematic sessions:
- theoretical aspects of U.S. foreign policy;
- influence of the United States on the growth of democracy in the modern world;
- United States and European Union: friendship or rivalry?
- American policy towards international terrorism;
- direction of U.S. foreign policy in the 21st century;
- United States as a global hegemon – what it means for the world?
- U.S. institutions responsible for implementation of foreign policy;
- legal aspects of U.S. foreign policy (American law and international law);
All of the interested participants should submit (by e-mail: plaidler@interia.pl) a 200-250 word abstract with general remarks concerning the aims and objectives of the presentation. Deadline for submitting the proposals: March 30, 2007.
Conference fee: 100 EUR (paid before April 20, 2007) or 140 EUR (paid after April 20, 2007). Fee includes: accommodation at the University Hotel (three nights: 24/25, 25/26, 26/27 May), three lunches, two banquet dinners, preconference materials, Kraków sightseeing tour and publishing of the postconference papers).
