Institute of the world history of Russian academy of sciences invites paper proposals for an international scientific conference dedicated to the bicentennial of Russian-American relations.
Next year there will be celebrating of the 200-years anniversary from the beginning of Russian-American official diplomatic relations.
From the times of Alexis de Tocqueville many researchers from the both sides of the Atlantic ocean tried to compare and to understand the differences between our countries. The long period of the opposition in the XX century generated a lot of controversies and misunderstandings. Now is the time to offer and discuss new approaches to the Russian-American history.
The conference will consist of three main sections, devoted to different aspects of the Russian-American relations’ history. Organization committee of the conference is also provided a special section for graduate students, specialized in Russian or the US history.
The organizers are interested in papers from a variety of approaches on the themes of the history of Russian-American relations, however papers on Russian or the US history are also welcome.
