CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The first edition of the Biennial International Conference of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) will hold from January 22-25 2007 at the Abuja Sheraton Hotels & Towers Abuja Nigeria. The main goal of SPSP is to promote synergic relationship between peace scholars and practitioners in Africa. The Society seeks to standardize, moderate and professionalize peace practice and scholarship in Africa with a view to building a body of peace workers that can respond proactively to the internal, international, environmental and industrial conflicts in the continent. The Biennial International conference of the Society is one of the structures put in place by the Society’s Constitution for realising these objectives.
The Conference would enable policy-makers, conflict management scholars and peace practitioners (including security officials) to exchange ideas on best practices in peacebuilding, peacemaking and preventive diplomacy in Africa. It will also provide the opportunity for international development agencies doing peace-related work in Africa to disseminate information about their programmes and projects with a view to preventing duplication of efforts and identifying areas of possible collaboration.
