Walking Tour: African American Life in Lower Manhattan
In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, South Street Seaport Museum is offering our popular African American walking tour. This tour connects the African Burial Ground to other historic sites including stations on the Underground Railroad, the former location of New York’s slave market, the African Free School, and the Colored Sailor’s Home. After the tour, museum educators will facilitate a discussion for children and adults that will reflect on the contributions of African Americans in the history of Lower Manhattan. Family worksheets will be provided for families and children. $12 adults / $8 children ($4 off for Museum Members). Reservations required. For reservations or information call 212.748.8757.
