2007 Hagley Fellows Conference
“Missing Subjects: Bridging the Gaps in the History of Business, Technology, Consumption and Work”
Saturday, March 31, 2007
Hagley Museum and Library, Wilmington, Delaware
The University of Delaware-Hagley Fellows invite scholars to join us in a conversation about “missing subjects” in the histories of business, technology, consumption, and work. Who or what are the “missing subjects”? Why do we write about certain topics or social groups and not others? Which of these subjects have received inadequate attention? How can research on underrepresented themes contribute to our broader understanding of the history of business, technology, consumption, and work in industrial and postindustrial societies? We encourage proposals about both individual missing subjects and larger historiographical issues.
Proposals, including a 500-word abstract and a one-page CV, should be sent by December 14, 2006 to Hagley Fellows Conference, University of Delaware – Department of History, 46 West Delaware Avenue, Newark, DE 19716-2547. Electronic submissions may be sent to email@example.com.
