An Invitation to the Mental Health Community from Dr. Gerry Costa:
I am writing to invite you to participate in an exciting venture that the YCS Institute is planning during April 26-May 4, 2007, in conjunction with Dr. Marian Wiener-Margulies, of our faculty, and her husband, Dr. Hune Margulies: a scientific and cultural exchange visit exploring infant mental health with early childhood mental health professionals and university partners in Argentina! Dr. Hune Margulies, of the Martin Buber Institute and President of Community Development Partners for the Americas, LLC, will serve as our trip coordinator and guide!
This trip will provide us with an opportunity to visit with colleagues in Argentina, explore the field of infant mental health in that country, share the current trends and advances from the United States, and at the same time enjoy the many exciting offerings in the culturally rich and fun-loving city we visit. The trip will be sponsored by the YCS Institute, in conjunction with The Martin Buber Institute and with the cooperation of faculty from the University of Palermo, The University of the Madres of Plaza de Mayo and the University of Buenos Aires. Faculty from psychology programs at other universities will also participate. Practitioners, researchers and other professionals from different agencies, including government officials and non-government organizations will participate in our exchange. Among the planned activities are:
1. Scientific meetings with faculty, professionals and other practitioners. We will invite members of our delegation to prepare to speak about their work and share insights from the field.
2. Field visits to clinics, hospitals and mental health centers
3. Culture, meals, tours and entertainment, including Tango nights and Gaucho meals!
Of course, spouses/partners are invited and we will plan alternate activities for those partners who prefer to enjoy the land and country!
I am including the application materials in the posting below this one. To talk more about the planned exchange visit, please contact me (gcosta@YCS.org) or Dr. Hune Margulies at the numbers/emails/website listed with any questions.
Applications for the trip can be found below, or please request an application and registration materials to subscribe to the tour by contacting Dr. Hune Margulies at cdpa@cdpa-americas.org or by calling him at 914-833-7787, or you may contact me at 973-395-5500, Ext. 301.
I hope you will join us in April for this exciting opportunity.
Sincerely,
Gerard Costa, Ph.D.
Director, YCS Institute
