Invitation to submit Doctoral Dissertation Abstracts to the Leo Baeck Institute Year Book
The editors of the Leo Baeck Institute Year Book wish to expand the section devoted to abstracts of recently completed doctoral theses on the history of German-speaking Jewry from the Middle Ages to contemporary times in forthcoming volumes of the LBI Year Book so as to make their scholarship and their authors more widely known.
The editors know such abstracts are very much valued by other scholars and bring new scholarship to the attention of our readers worldwide.
As a guide, a good structure for the abstract is first to summarise the content of the dissertation and then to focus on the significance of the new contribution made and how this adds to or differs from existing scholarship.
The abstract should be written in English; the language of the thesis is immaterial.
The Ph.D. will have been completed in 2004 or later; the abstract should be submitted to us by 15 March 2007. As we need to be able to print the contribution on one page, it should be between 500 and 550 words in length.
Please also include the following:
- when and where the thesis was completed
- the major archival sources on which the research was based
- full publication details, if applicable
- personal contact details
Please send your abstract to the Dissertation Co-ordinator, Julia Wolbergs (firstname.lastname@example.org), preferably by email attachment or by post (Leo Baeck Institute, 4 Devonshire Street, London W1W 5LB, United Kingdom).
