Dr. Douglas Scott
Saturday, January 27, at 2 pm (snow date January 28)
Smith Middle School, 216 Addison Road, Glastonbury, Connecticut
Admission: Museum and FOSA members FREE; $10 per adult; $5 per student
Dr. Scott’s presentation will feature the Battle of Little Bighorn, which symbolized the U.S. government’s conflict with Native Americans during westward expansion. But what actually happened? Historic records and Native oral histories tell conflicting stories of how the events of the Battle of Little Bighorn truly unfolded.
In August 1983, a fire cleared the Little Bighorn battlefield, making a thorough archaeological examination possible. Dr. Douglas Scott and his colleagues collected physical evidence from the battle, adding new dimensions to the story and solving some of its most hidden secrets. Presented by the Friends of the Office of State Archaeology (FOSA), and the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History and Connecticut Archaeology Center at UConn
