Living History scholar/performers are sought for Ohio Chautauqua 2008, which will be themed, “Inventors and Innovators.” Ohio Chautauqua is sponsored by the Ohio Humanities Council. Scholar participation will include serving as a scholar in residence for about one week in each of four or five Ohio host communities. Each week, scholars will present in costume one evening first person portrayal and two daytime workshops and will also be available for various social or publicity events. The honorarium will be $1,200 per week plus travel and lodging expenses.
Applications are sought for scholar/performers to portray: Thomas Edison, Margaret Sanger, George Washington Carver, Benjamin Franklin, Amelia Bloomer, Benjamin Banneker, Andrew Carnegie, Marie Curie, and any others appropriate to the theme.

A full application will include a current vita, a 4-5 page essay and brief bibliography about your character, and a video tape or DVD of yourself portraying your character.
