Edwin Mellen Press has approved my proposal to publish an edited book on the Great African Rinderpest Panzootic that cut a swathe through the continent in the closing decades of the nineteenth century. Scholars working on this subject, especially on North, East and Central Africa - byt also on Southern Africa - are encouraged to submit chapters on any aspect of this cattle epizootic. Interested scholars should contact Dr. Pule Phoofolo. The tentative deadline for indication of interest - and an indication of when the chapter manuscript will be completed - is March 30, 2007.
