H-DC website update news: new logo, new colors
For H-DC's six birthday we've spiffed up the website a bit.
If you click:
http://www.h-net.org/~dclist
you will see H-DC's new logo (replacing that of several years standing).
And you'll see that the background graphic is gone (I've finally
succumbed
to
your requests).
There is a lot of content on the H-DC website (several hundred pages)
and
links to hundreds more sites--all accessed through the red left-hand
navigation bar.
The left staff navigation bar has been simplified a bit:
offering the "About H-DC: Welcome Letter;" and a set of pages uniquely
available on H-DC, such as:
DC Area Research Locations, Neighborhoods, DC Timeline, Print Media
Links
(just updated), GIS and Maps online.
Followed by a link to "Bibliographies & Pathfinders" and to "Online
Digital Resources--Full Texts and Images".
The content behind all of these is always undergoing revision--you can
see
a compilation/refresh date on the lower
right corner of each page. New contributions are welcome--email me to
discuss.
There are "H-DC's Scholarly Reviews", which also includes a compilation
of
review form other H-Net networks
of interest to historians of Washington, D.C.
Content and discussions which have been on H-DC over the past six years
are all available.
The "Email discussion logs" are available three ways--keyword Search,
Browse by month, and a few "Discussion Threads" of
note have been compiled (e.g. the D.C. in a swamp myth).
There are links to Related H-Net Lists and basic information on how to
subscribe and manage your subscription. You'll
also see a page of those folks responsible for H-DC "H-DC Editors &
Advisory Board".
We always need folks to "Volunteer to Review Books" to provide scholarly
quality reviews of DC history scholarship.
And just a note that H-DC received a 2004 Vision Award from the
Committee
of 100 on the Federal City and in 2005 a
Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation.
