This conference is aimed at scholars of the early American Republic, but also the British, French, and Spanish Atlantic. It addresses two of the more popular concepts in the recent historiography of the early American republic (and early America in general) : republicanism and the Atlantic world. It places them more specifically within the context of the revolutionary age and adopts a comparative perspective by including papers and discussions on the Spanish and French Atlantics, along with the British Atlantic.
The conference will be held in Paris, December 8 and 9, 2006. More information is available on the conference web site. Registration is compulsory to attend.
