I am looking to fill a panel on "Race and the American Military in the Twentieth Century" for the March 2008 Organization of American Historians Conference in New York, NY. I am interested not only in the role of race in combat, but also in issues arising outside of battle, such as racial tensions on military bases, cultural representations of race, etc.... My paper will examine U.S. Army recruitment of African Americans after the Vietnam War. If you would like to contribute to the panel please send a 250 word proposal and a short CV of no more than 500 words by December 9, 2006.
