The Shakespeare on Film and Television area of the Southwest/Texas Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association is accepting proposals for papers on film and television adaptations of Shakespeare's plays. All topics are welcome. Topics received include: Bollywood Shakespeare, Metatheatrical Shakespeare, Shakespeare and the genre film, Shakespeare and Sexuality, Shakespeare and Race, Political Shakespeare adaptations.
Please send a 250-word proposal and a brief CV to richard.vela@uncp.edu by December 1, 2006.
The conference is once again being held in Albuquerque, NM, from February 14-17, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency downtown. Hotel rates are low, and graduate student rates are even lower.
All participants should register as soon as papers are accepted. Those registering before December 15, 2006 will receive a reduced early-bird rate. The absolute deadline for registration is December 31, 2006. Please check the conference website for more information:
