The Conference on Confidence in the Courts will look at a wide variety of issues relating to how members of the public view the courts and what affects their perception. The results of recent surveys by social scientists of public confidence in the courts in the US and Australia will be discussed. Other papers include the media and the courts; Cost of access to justice; Judicial corrosion; and how the courts treat litigants, victims of crime, jurors and experts.
