CALL FOR PAPERS AND PANELS
2007 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
ASSOCIATION FOR BORDERLANDS STUDIES (ABS)
CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA. APRIL 11-14, 2007.
The Association for Borderlands Studies ABS and the Western Social Science Association
(WSSA) welcome proposals for papers and panels for the 31st Annual Meeting of the Association of
Borderlands Studies and the 49th Annual Conference of the Western Social Science Association to be
held on Calgary, Canada from 11-14 April 2007. To participate in the meetings, participants must do
the following:
· Submit a proposal packet of a paper or panel to Dr. Manuel Chavez (President Elect of
ABS) at aborders@msu.edu by December 5, 2006. This packet must include the title of the
presentation; an abstract not to exceed 150 words; names, affiliations and e-mail addresses of
all authors; and audio-visual needs. Please note we need your packet by December 5 to
coordinate with the WSSA people on the overall conference organization.
· Pre-register for the conference through the WSSA webpage at
http://wssa.asu.edu/wssa_conference.htm. Please note that all participants must register with
the WSSA who handles the overall conference organization. Doing this in advance will save
participants money (due to a reduced early registration fee) and aid the conference organizers in
tracking participation.
· All participants to the 2007 ABS Annual Meetings also must be paid up members of the
ABS, and this can be handled online through a secure payment site at
http://absborderlands.org/member/index.html. We have had some trouble with this in the
past, and it is very important that people make sure they are paid up members in order to
participate in the meetings. If people are not comfortable with doing this on line, please contact
Dr. Emmanuel Brunet-Jailly at ebrunetj@uvic.ca for a membership form that can be mailed in
with a check.
