Historians, Quilt Historians, Women's Historians, Art Historians, Cultural Anthropologists, Folklife Scholars, Textile Historians,Collectors, and Independent Scholars are invited to submit proposals for papers for The Southern Quilt Conference, to be held in Ruston, LA, March 23-23, 2007. Papers may explore the development of quilting design and production, the dissemination of quilt patterns and techniques, materials used over time, as well as the cultural and aesthetic influences that shaped quilt design and usage in the Deep South.
Individual papers should be original research. They should be twenty minutes in length. Five to ten minutes will be allotted after each presentation for questions/answers and discussion.
Panel presentations should be limited to no more than four participants plus a moderator and should relate to the theme of the conference. Each participant will be allowed twenty minutes for a total of eighty minutes per panel presentation with ten minutes for questions/answers and discussion.
Abstract/Proposal submission guidelines:
Individual presenters or panel moderators should submit a 150-200 word abstract with a cover letter and a resume of no more than three pages.
Abstracts/proposals can be submitted via email or the U.S. postal service. The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2006. Email submissions must be sent as an email attachment in MSWord format.
