The Phillips Collection Center for the Study of Modern Art announces an annual prize of $5,000 for a first book manuscript. The jury is looking for manuscripts that communicate clearly new research in modern or contemporary art from 1880 to the present. The jury will favor those subjects related to the artists and interests reflected in The Phillips Collection’s areas of collecting. Authors who have completed the Ph.D. within the preceding five years are especially encouraged to apply.
Proposal deadline: January 15, 2007
Proposals should include:
1. Cover Letter
2. CV
3. 3 Letters of Recommendation sent under separate cover (8 copies)
4. Book Abstract (1 page)
5. Proposal (8-10 pages): Overview of project, chapter outlines, plan for revision of manuscript into book, position of book within field of modern/contemporary art
