The Heidelberg Center for American Studies (HCA) invites applications from the Ph.D. students for its fourth annual HCA Spring Academy conference on American History, Culture, and Politics which will take place at the University of Heidelberg from April 16 to April 20, 2007.
Papers can be presented on any subject relating to the study of the United States of America. Possible topics include American Identity, Transatlantic Relations, U.S. Foreign Policy, Gender, Literature, Issues of Ethnicity, as well as different aspects of American History, Religion, and Culture. We encourage applicants pursuing interdisciplinary projects.
Participants are requested to prepare a 20-minute presentation of their research project, which will be followed by a 40-minute discussion.
The HCA Spring Academy will provide participants with the opportunity to work with experts in their fields of study. During the conference week guest speakers will be invited for four workshops.
The application deadline is December 22, 2006.
