The Shakespeare, the Elizabethans, & the Early Modern World area of the Popular Culture Association is seeking papers on any aspect of "Cultures in the Early Modern World" for the annual conference in Boston, April 4 to 7, 2007.

Presenters are encouraged to contemplate issues on topics related to questions of identity, patriotism, nationalism and transnationalisms with an emphasis on the “Early Modern World.” We are interested in not only the literature and drama but other visual and material culture as well as cultural activities, institutions and technology from this era. Also encouraged are interests in the Counter-Reformation movements from other nations (i.e. Spanish Theatre and literature) before 1700.
