Ours is an era of microprocessors, wireless technologies, mobile devices, data fields, and tracking systems. From personal computing to ubiquitous computing, solitary and virtual worlds are being replaced by networked sociality, locative media, and responsive environments. This symposium brings together researchers and practitioners from architecture, art, technology, and sociology to explore the transformation of architecture and urbanism in a world of networked objects and spaces.
Organized by Omar Khan, Trebor Scholz, and Mark Shepard and co-produced by The Architectural League of New York, the Center for Virtual Architecture at the University at Buffalo, and the Institute for Distributed Creativity
Participants: Jonah Brucker-Cohen, Richard Coyne, Michael Fox, Anne Galloway, Charlie Gere, Usman Haque, Peter Hasdell, Natalie Jeremijenko, Sheila Kennedy, Eric Paulos, Karmen Franinovic, Mette Ramsgard Thomsen, Kazys Varnelis
