Visualizing the West is a new website hosted at Western Oregon University. It is intended to be a gateway for scholars, writers, and artists interested in the cultural representation of the Western U.S. and Canada. It is designed as a collaborative work-in-progress, and is organized into three sections:
-A Wiki Reference that will provide introductions and information about existing research, select imagery, and relevant scholars, artists and writers.
-A weblog, Frontier/Hinterland/Home, that will serve as a clearinghouse for announcements, news, and information as well as provide a forum for discussion.
-A page devoted to Original Visualizations, including photo essays, virtual exhibits, and films and videos. The page currently features a photo essay on "The New Old West" by Shaun Huston
I am currently seeking:
-items and contributors for the weblog.
-additions to the Wiki.
-submissions and reviewers for the Original Visualizations page.
