Book Series (History: Concepts, Theories and Practice [Pearson-Longman]) - Call for Book Proposals
Seeking authors for a book series on key aspects of historical thinking and practice under the editorship of Professor Alun Munslow. The series (published by Pearson Longman) examines the discipline of history as it is conceived today in a climate that has increasingly questioned the status of historical knowledge. Authors will be confident in their openness not only to radical developments in their own field, but also willing to help form the agenda for the future.
This call is for book proposals to explore one of the following general fields:
Race and Ethnicity
Gender and Sexuality
Ideas for other historical fields are welcome. Several volumes have now been published in the series including 'The New History' by Alun Munslow, ‘Imperialism and Postcolonialism’ by Barbara Bush, ‘Class’ by Dennis Dworkin, and ‘History on Film, Film on History,’ by Robert A. Rosenstone and others will be published shortly. All the books in the series will be expected to survey the present state of their chosen field, acknowledge its constructed nature, explore its historiography, and explain by example its key features. It will be written in a manner accessible to both students and historians. 80,000 words per volume including Guide to Key Reading and a critical bibliography. Black and white illustrative material may be used.
